Lag threads organize the brain's intrinsic activity.

It has been widely reported that intrinsic brain activity, in a variety of animals including humans, is spatiotemporally structured. Specifically, propagated slow activity has been repeatedly demonstrated in animals. In human resting-state fMRI, spontaneous activity has been understood predominantly in terms of zero-lag temporal synchrony within widely distributed functional systems (resting-st...

Evaluation of Phase Locking and Cross Correlation Methods for Estimating the Time Lag between Brain Sites: A Simulation Approach

Introduction: Direction and latency of electrical connectivity between different sites of brain explains brain neural functionality. We compared efficiency of cross correlation and phase locking methods in time lag estimation which are based on local field potential (LFP) and LFPspike signals, respectively. Methods: Signals recorded from MT area of a macaque’s brain was used in a simulation ...

Assessment of the impact of applying attenuation correction on the accuracy of activity recovery in Tc99m-ECD brain SPECT of healthy subject using Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM)

Introduction: Photon attenuation in tissues is the primary physical degrading factor limiting both visual qualitative interpretation and quantitative analysis capabilities of reconstructed Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) images. The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of attenuation correction on the detection of activation foci following statistical analysis w...

Intracellular location and properties of bovine brain sialidase.

Intracellular distribution of the sialidase of adult bovine brain gray matter was determined. The sialidase was found to be concentrated in the synaptosome fraction, and when the latter was disrupted and further fractionated, sialidase activity was found to be concentrated in the synaptosomal membrane. Sialidase in all cell fractions showed activity toward an intrinsic endogenous substrate, as ...
